From 22.5-10.6.2017 we had the pleasure to host the 1st pupil from a Waldorf School of Germany (Waldorfschule Uhlandshoehe, Stuttgart) for her duration of 3 weeks practical training. Our programme included: an understanding of biodynamic farming, pairing theory with a practical approach; crop rotations and crop companions; weeding; carrot sowing; feeding and grazing the farm animals; constructions for the renovation of the farm shop. Before her departure, she expressed her surprise at how quickly time passed and thanked us for everything she had the opportunity to learn.; this usually happens when we are having fun, is this not so?
On our side, we were impressed that a 15-yer old child, on top of her unbelievable maturity relative to her age, had such a broad variety of skills: an amazing speed in absorbing all the theoretical and practical knowledge we exposed her to and the ability and ease in handling practical tasks in and outside the fields, such as for example using nails and hammer for the construction of a table from paletes, or sewing a tablecloth for the tables we set for the farm vistiors!
